MIT Lincoln Laboratory's Small Business Report accepted by the federal government's electronic reporting system
Lincoln Laboratory submitted its federal government year-end small business report in April 2009, and the Administrative Contracting Officer has accepted the report into the federal government's new electronic reporting system (eSRS). Lincoln Laboratory reported good progress in achieving its overall small business goal of 48%. The Laboratory has reached 90% of this goal and has shown a steady increase for the last three reporting periods. As part of the Small Business goal, Lincoln Laboratory has a number of subgoals for different categories of small business types (see the Lincoln Laboratory Small Business Office page for fuller definitions), and the Laboratory reported 100% achievement for all subcategories. Of special significance was the Laboratory's use of Woman-Owned Small Business, having achieved 10.2% against a goal of 0.5%.
MIT Lincoln Laboratory plays host to small businesses
Lincoln Laboratory has an ongoing outreach program through which small businesses set up table displays in the cafeteria and have an opportunity to discuss their products with Lincoln Laboratory researchers who express an interest. This has been a very successful program with many Laboratory personnel stopping by and asking questions. The Laboratory's most recent visiting supplier remarked, "Thank you both very much for providing my company with the opportunity to come visit your facility and the chance to network with your engineers."
