Shawn Beguhn

Dr. Shawn Beguhn is a technical staff member in the RF Technology Group.  He has been involved in the development of advanced wideband RF systems for radar and electronic warfare efforts using custom RF and PCB designs.

Beguhn's research areas include substrate-integrated waveguide (SIW) devices, specifically using magnetic materials and novel anisotropy techniques.  He has also researched spin-sprayed magnetic materials as a low-cost, low-temperature technique for miniaturized antennas and other RF devices.  He has a number of primary and coauthored publications and conference proceedings.

Beguhn has also done research into developing both 2-D RCS and 3-D interferometric inverse synthetic aperture (IFSAR) imaging capability for a scaled-dielectric ISAR compact range.  This included a high-fidelity simulator and subsequent processing tools from S to Ka band for both measured and simulated data.

Beguhn received his BS and MS degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Massachusetts Lowell and his PhD from Northeastern University.  He is also a veteran of the United States Navy serving as a Fire controlman responsible for maintaining and operating the Aegis SPY-1 B(V) radar aboard the USS Vella Gulf (CG-72).
