Timothy R. Leek received a BS in Physics and a BA in English from the University of Connecticut in 1991. He worked as a technical writer for US Surgical Corp, as a scientific programmer at Yale University, and as a Systems Administrator at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies in La Jolla, CA. He entered a PhD program at the University of California, San Diego, in 1996, and after a year left with an MS in Computer Science to join Bolt Beranek and Newman in Cambridge, MA. At BBN, he applied statistical methods to Information Retrieval, Topic Detection and Tracking, Machine Translation, and Summarization. In 2001, he joined the BMD group at Lincoln Laboratory, investigating Machine Learning techniques for building Decision Architectures. In 2003, he joined the Information Assurance Group at Lincoln Laboratory and is currently researching automated techniques for finding errors in programs, using a combination of static and dynamic analysis, with the odd bit of machine learning thrown in for good measure.
