Dr. Danny Quist is a member of the technical staff in the Cyber System Assessments Group at MIT Lincoln Laboratory. He joined the Laboratory in 2012 as a reverse engineer researcher. His primary interests are in reverse engineering of malicious code, automation of the reverse engineering process, hypervisor-based analysis systems, and visualization. He invented the Five Point Exploding Packer Technique.
Prior to joining the Laboratory, Dr. Quist founded Offensive Computing, an open malware research site. He has worked for IBM, Los Alamos National Laboratory, and ran a successful incident response and reverse engineering training company. He has presented at Blackhat USA, the RSA Conference, Defcon, and other industry venues. He has a patent for a network based quarantine system.
Dr. Quist holds a Ph.D. and Bachelor of Science degree from the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology (New Mexico Tech).
