Dr. Glenn Carl is a technical staff member in the Cyber Systems and Operations Group within Lincoln Laboratory’s Communication and Cyber Security Division. Dr. Carl joined Lincoln Laboratory in 2007. He is responsible for leading programs that focus on developing architectures, performing performance evaluations, and assessing the security posture of information sharing enterprises.
From 2003-2006, he worked as a research assistant at the Applied Research Laboratory at Penn State studying denial-of-service attack detection. Between 1995 and 2003, Dr. Carl was employed as an electrical engineer at several telecommunication companies (e.g., Lucent Technologies) developing and testing high-speed data and voice networking equipment.
His research activities have included performing large-scale network modeling and performance assessment of wired and mobile wireless networks, experimental design, simulation and emulation, modeling of policy-based network routing using path algebras, network traffic analysis using statistical and wavelet-based approaches, and evaluating network intrusion detection techniques. Dr. Carl has published conference, workshop, and journal articles in several of these areas for IEEE, ACM, and Elsevier.
Dr. Carl received his Ph.D. and BS degrees in electrical engineering from Penn State University in 2008 and 1991, respectively, and a MS in electrical engineering from Wilkes University in 1995.
