Mr. Scott Macdonald is the IT Services Team Lead in the Cyber Systems and Technology Group. He is responsible for the operational project management of information technology installations and services in support of cyber security analysis, research, and systems evaluations.
While in the Navy, Mr. Macdonald held a number of information systems project management assignments afloat and ashore. Afloat assignments included USS FIFE (DD-991), USS FIREBOLT (PC 10), USS LABOON (DDG 58), and USS VELLA GULF (CG 72).
Upon completion of his studies at the U.S. Naval War College in 2003, Mr. Macdonald transitioned from the Surface Warfare Officer community into the Navy's Information Professional officer corps. His follow-on assignments focused on the direct application of information systems best practices in support of the configuration, operations, and maintenance of Naval Command and Control (C2) systems. During this period, he also served as the first Director of the U.S. Navy's Distributed Training Center, Atlantic (DTCLANT), a 75-person sailor-/contractor-staffed organization established as the primary technical operations support hub for all east coast Fleet Synthetic Training events. Mr. Macdonald retired from the Navy in 2010, while assigned to the staff of Commander, U.S. Fleet Forces Command before becoming a part of the Cyber Systems and Technology Group.
A retired Naval Officer, Mr. Macdonald received his B.S. in computer science from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1990, an M.S. degree in information systems from Northeastern University in 1998, and an M.A. in national security and strategic studies from the U.S. Naval War College in 2003.
