In 1999, Dr. Douglas Sturim joined the Human Language Technology Group as a member of the technical staff where he currently conducts research in the areas of robust speaker and language identification.
Prior to joining the Laboratory, he conducted research in sonar tracking and estimation at Naval Undersea Warfare Center from 1990 to 1999, and was a member of technical staff at TRW from 1985 to 1990.
Dr. Sturim has contributed numerous publications to journals and conferences. He is a member of the IEEE and Sigma Xi.
Dr. Sturim received his B.S.E.E. degree in 1985 from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. In 1992 he graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a M.S. in electrical engineering and received the outstanding student award. He completed his Ph.D in electrical engineering from Brown University in 1999 (under a Navy fellowship).
