Robotics Workshops

Robotics Outreach at Lincoln Laboratory (ROLL) has developed full-immersion robotics workshops for middle-school and high-school children of Laboratory employees. These workshops consist of a hands-on engineering challenge using Lego Mindstorms to build and program a working robot. Activities focus on experimentation and prototyping, with added time for robot finalization and competition. Initial full-weekend workshops were held for 9th and 10th grade children of Laboratory employees in 2008 and 2009. Workshops in 2010 and 2011 focused on specifc programming skills or were based around a theme, such as NASCAR or SeaPerch Aquatic robots. Robotics workshops will eventually be open to children in the local area.
