Donato Kava

I like how the Laboratory affords me the opportunity to use cutting-edge design tools and the compute resources to run them efficiently.

Donato Kava

Donato Kava is an associate staff member in the Secure Resilient Systems and Technology Group. He is currently looking to answer the question of how to securely design microelectronics and how to secure legacy systems at the hardware level. He is a supporter of open-sourcing hardware, e.g., RISC-V, and believes the hardware community can use disclosure to emulate the security success of AES.

Mr. Kava is a U.S. Navy veteran who served onboard USS Thach (FFG-43) as an electronics technician from 2008 to 2012. He received his BS degree in electrical engineering from the University of Texas at El Paso in 2017 and his MS degree in computer engineering from Boston University in 2018. His research interests included computer architecture design, field-programmable gate arrays, energy-efficient electronics, and hardware-level security.
