Brendon Chetwynd is a technical staff member in the Cyber System Assessments Group at MIT Lincoln Laboratory. He joined the Laboratory in September 2012 and has supported a variety of hardware-related cybersecurity efforts within his group and across divisions. His research interests currently include a mix of red-teaming and cyber-range activities, with a focus on delivering hardware capabilities within those environments. Previously, he has worked on security engineering and information assurance activities for a wide range of embedded systems and on the development of secure processing technologies.

With over 15 years of industry experience, Mr. Chetwynd has worked at a variety of companies, including Raytheon, Standard Microsystems Corporation, NTRU Cryptosystems (now Security Innovation), and, most recently, General Dynamics C4 Systems. At General Dynamics C4 Systems, he contributed to the development of several certified National Security Agency Type-1 encryption and last-mile key distribution projects. His work, which has had a hardware slant, includes efforts in requirements analysis, implementation of field-programmable gate arrays, printed wiring assembly, mechanical design, and EMI and TEMPEST testing.

Mr. Chetwynd earned BS and MS degrees in electrical engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in 1995 and 2000, respectively. His research focused on efficient implementation of block ciphers.
