Dr. Adam J. Elbirt joined MIT Lincoln Laboratory in 2014 and serves as a member of the technical staff in the Cyber Systems and Operations Group. His research interests include computer architecture, digital system design, real-time and embedded systems, reconfigurable computing, and information security. Dr. Elbirt has published numerous conference and journal papers in these areas in addition to a textbook focused on applied cryptography. His current research focuses on the development of methods and metrics for cyber measurement and threat assessment for the hardware design and implementation process.

Prior to joining Lincoln Laboratory, Dr. Elbirt spent over twenty years in industry working in technical roles as a hardware and software developer, embedded systems designer, programmable logic specialist, and field applications engineer. He also spent six years as faculty at the University of Massachusetts in addition to spending six years as a hardware-engineering manager and group leader in the aerospace, telecommunications, and big data spaces.

Dr. Elbirt received his BS degree in electrical engineering from Tufts University, his M Eng degree in electrical engineering from Cornell University, and his PhD degree in electrical engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
