Dr. Nabil A. Schear is a senior staff member in the Secure Resilient Systems and Technology Group at MIT Lincoln Laboratory. Dr. Schear's research interests include cloud security, intrusion tolerance and prevention, traffic analysis, data tracking and isolation, systems security, and anonymous/covert communications systems.

Prior to joining Lincoln Laboratory in 2011, he was a member of the technical staff at Los Alamos National Laboratory from 2004 to 2011 and an undergraduate cooperative student there from 2001 to 2004. At Los Alamos, he performed R&D in vulnerability analysis, Internet privacy, high-speed network traffic monitoring, sensor networking, and secure sanitization.

At Lincoln Laboratory, Dr. Schear leads efforts to create secure cloud computing environments for the Department of Defense and federal government. He performs R&D in secure and resilient communications, data provenance, resilient tactical distributed systems, and encrypted processing. He also works on defining and securing cyber architectures for command and control in multiple warfighting domains.

Dr. Schear earned a BS degree in computer science from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 2004 and an MS degree in computer science from the University of California at San Diego in 2007. In 2011, he earned a PhD degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign under the supervision of Nikita Borisov.
