Steven M. Schoeffler is a systems administrator in the Cyber Systems and Operations Group at MIT Lincoln Laboratory. He works on maintaining the virtualized server infrastructure, automating configuration management, and enforcing Department of Defense security policies. He plans and designs virtual desktop solutions for the group’s networks. 

Previously at Lincoln Laboratory, he worked in the Air and Missile Defense Technology Division as a systems administrator in the CONUS (continental United States) Operations Support Center. He provided information technology support for real-time viewing of the Missile Defense Agency’s ballistic missile defense missions; this work included optimizing video and data streaming over high-latency, low-bandwidth networks. In addition, he worked on maintaining the storage and backup infrastructure for post-mission data.

Mr. Schoeffler currently holds several industry certifications including RHCE (Red Hat Certified Engineer), VCP-DCV (VMware Certified Professional–Data Center Visualization), CCAH (Cloudera Certified Administrator for Apache Hadoop), and Security+. He earned an MS degree in computer science from Clemson University and a BS degree in computer science from Bob Jones University.
