Dr. W. Mark Smith is an Assistant Group Leader of the Cyber Systems and Operations Group at MIT Lincoln Laboratory. He currently works on projects dealing with cyber security in the wireless domain. Previously at Lincoln Laboratory, he managed a net-centric situational awareness program for missile warning and missile defense systems, he conducted research for the Army in the areas of cooperative networking, channel measurements, and system modeling for land-mobile satellite communications, and he was a range planner and radar systems engineer at the Reagan Test Site, Kwajalein Atoll.

Prior to joining the Laboratory, Dr. Smith was at Stanford University and pursued research in propagation models for terrestrial wireless communication systems in urban environments. From 1993 to 1997, he served on active duty in the U.S. Air Force as a space launch systems engineer for Titan II and Titan IV launch systems at Vandenberg Air Force Base, California.

Dr. Smith received the BS degree in electrical and computer engineering from Carnegie Mellon University in 1993 and MS and PhD degrees in electrical engineering from Stanford University in 1999 and 2004, respectively.
