The ceremony honored those who made significant contributions to the field of aeronautics and astronautics.

On May 16, the 2025 American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) New England Honors and Awards Ceremony was held at the Draper Laboratory in Cambridge, Massachusetts, to recognize its members for their work in the aeronautics, astronautics, and aerospace industry. Daniel Hastings, President of AIAA and the Cecil and Ida Green Education Professor of Aeronautics and Astronautics at MIT, delivered the keynote speech during the ceremony, commemorating the award recipients for their service and contributions to innovation. Five Laboratory staff members received recognition during the event.

Robert Shin, a principal staff member in the ISR Systems and Technology and Tactical Systems Divisions, received the 2025 AIAA New England STEM Award.

Tyler Boehm and Rhea Senthil Kumar, both from the Space Systems Analysis and Test Group, were recognized for significant contributions to the Beaver Works Summer Institute CubeSat Challenge, 2024–2025.

Luis Alvarez, from the Transportation Safety and Resilience Group, received the 2025 AIAA New England Young Professional Award.

Idahosa Osaretin, an assistant leader of the Advanced Sensors and Techniques Group, received recognition for service as treasurer of the AIAA New England section. Osaretin was also elevated to an AIAA Associate Fellow.

"It is wonderful that several staff were recognized at the ceremony," says Osaretin. "Laboratory members have made many outstanding contributions and displayed unwavering commitment to advancing the field of aeronautics and astronautics. Their actions have helped shape the future of aerospace for generations to come."
