Professional Development MIT Lincoln Laboratory is committed to fostering and developing its staff by providing opportunities to expand their knowledge through various outlets. The Laboratory encourages staff to think outside the box and urges them to help inform other interested parties by publishing in technical journals, attending conferences, and participating in professional societies. The Laboratory has its own library which features a highly focused collection of technical materials and offers a wide range of online resources.
Workshops and In-house TrainingOur in-house education program offers courses in technical subjects such as electro-optics, one-day technical seminars, classes in software applications and systems, and workshops in leadership and business skills. We also offer additional courses, including Lincoln Laboratory's Technical Education Program, Professional Training and Development Program, and Computer Training Program.

Technical Education Committee ProgramThe technical education in-house courses, provided by the Technical Education Committee, provide semester long courses in advanced and unique technical areas across the Laboratory. The courses, taught by Lincoln Laboratory experts, expand technical knowledge, versatility, and effectiveness. As examples, courses have been taught in areas of radar, signal processing, ISR, cyber, machine learning, communications, engineering, mathematics, optics, and undersea systems.
Technical Seminars Technical seminars provide the opportunity for technical staff to present current research projects and solicit feedback from peers. They also encourage cross-collaboration between groups within different mission areas.
MentoringUnderstanding the importance of fostering relationships, the Laboratory established programs designed to help employees at different stages of their careers. The Laboratory offers formal one-on-one and circle mentoring opportunities to all employees.
Lincoln Scholars & MBA Program

The Laboratory is committed to the professional growth of its staff members and recognizes the importance of advanced educational opportunities. For staff members interested in pursuing formal technical graduate programs at either the master's or doctoral level, the Laboratory offers the opportunity to apply for admission to the Lincoln Scholars Program, which enables full-time graduate study at MIT or other approved Boston-area universities. The MBA program provides an opportunity to broaden and expand skills in accounting and finance, program planning and analysis, financial reporting, and business management.

Part-Time Graduate Studies ProgramThe Part-Time Graduate Studies program offers the opportunity to pursue part-time graduate work at local academic institutions or via distance education, during which the employee remains a full-time member of the Laboratory immersed within the Laboratory culture. The program offers tuition support that, combined with tuition assistance, is designed to substantially mitigate the financial cost to the individual.
Teaching AppointmentsFor Lincoln Laboratory staff members who are interested in giving back to the academic community, teaching appointments are a great route to explore and are highly encouraged at the Laboratory. Employees who are interested in pursuing an outside teaching appointment should contact the Human Resources Department to begin the process.
