Making an Impact in our Community

Community service and educational outreach are important to us. Our outreach programs are motivated by the desire of our employees to help people in need and to encourage students' interest and participation in engineering and science.

In response to the COVID-19 (coronavirus) outbreak, MIT Lincoln Laboratory will suspend all summer K-12 outreach programs. This includes LLRISE, LLCipher, and all other scheduled programming. We are following MIT’s policy on K-12 Summer programming. In light of this announcement, Lincoln Laboratory is exploring ways in which we can modify the teaching of these courses in a virtual environment. We will keep you informed on the potential of this approach in the coming months.  

If you are interested in being consider for virtual LLRISE and LLCipher programs please continue to complete your application. The LLRISE student application portal will remain open till April 3, 2020, 8 PM and LLCipher’s deadline will remain the same. Teacher recommendation portal will no longer have deadline for both programs.

The Beaver Works Summer Institute provides a variety of rigorous online courses for high school seniors interested in engineering and programming, or for teachers conducting an afterschool STEM course.

FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Robotics offers FIRST LEGO League Jr. programs to students aged 6 to 10.

FIRST Tech Challenge is a national robotics program for students in grades 7–12 who are interested in building and programming their own robot from a kit and then testing it in competition.
