The Mobile Device Lab lets us explore cellular, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and GPS technologies in a private, isolated environment in which we can emulate a small-scale wireless network.

The lab offers methods of evaluating mobile device technology before deployment in the field. Researchers can test location-based service applications, model protocols for packet loss, and practice mobile malware triage without interfering with public wireless networks. In this setting, we can explore the impacts of various radio-frequency signals on our systems, the current limitations of devices, and the effects of radio-frequency congestion.
