Daniel M. Marcus is a member of the Director’s Office staff and the head of the Mission Assurance Office. His background is in mission assurance and several associated subdisciplines, including reliability, availability, maintainability, and systems safety. He also has a background in systems engineering and decision analysis. As head of the Mission Assurance Office, he is focused on ensuring risk-informed decisions and enabling programs to achieve mission success. He has extensive experience building, deploying, and optimizing mission assurance organizations.

Prior to joining Lincoln Laboratory, Marcus held a series of leadership roles in mission assurance and systems engineering at L3Harris, Raytheon, Sierra Nevada Corporation, and Lockheed Martin. He has worked on programs in a wide array of technology areas and across the full program lifecycle. He holds dual undergraduate degrees in mechanical engineering and economics with a concentration in management, and an MSE degree in systems engineering from the University of Pennsylvania.
