Excellence in Technology Transfer
The Federal Laboratory Consortium (FLC) is a nationwide network of more than 300 government laboratories, agencies, and research centers that helps facilitate the transfer of technologies from research environments into commercial and public-sector use — strengthening the U.S. economy, society, and national security. Each year, the FLC recognizes outstanding technology transfer achievements by its member labs and their partners across industry, academia, nonprofits, and state and local governments.
Technology transfer is central to the mission of Lincoln Laboratory as a federally funded research and development center. Since becoming an FLC member lab in 2018, Lincoln Laboratory has received 10 FLC Excellence in Technology Transfer Awards at the national and Northeast regional levels.

Transferred to the weather company Tomorrow.io, which is launching a large constellation of sounder-equipped satellites to enhance hurricane prediction and expand global weather coverage
Timely Address Space Randomization (2024)
Transferred to two commercial providers of cloud-based services to protect Linux-based applications and servers from information-leakage cyberattacks.
Keylime (2023, national; 2021, regional)
Transferred to the public via an open-source software license and partnership with Red Hat to enhance the security of cloud, edge, and Internet of Things devices.
Forensic Video Exploitation and Analysis (2023, national; 2021, regional)
Transferred to Doradus Labs to expedite their customers’ process of reviewing and extracting useful information from existing surveillance videos.
Optimization Processing Unit (2020)
Transferred to Laboratory spinout Sync Computing to provide an analog-based method for solving problems too complicated for digital computing technology.
Microwave Imaging System Threat Exposure (2019)
Transferred to Liberty Defense and commercialized into HEXWAVE, a walkthrough security screening system that detects and classifies concealed objects on people in high-traffic venues.
Next-Generation Incident Command System (2018)
Transferred to the first responder and emergency management community to coordinate emergency response across multiple jurisdictions and agencies, national and international.
