Douglas E. Sturim

In 1999, Dr. Douglas E. Sturim joined what is now the Artificial Intelligence Technology and Systems Group as a member of the technical staff. He currently conducts research in the areas of robust speaker and language identification.

Prior to joining the Laboratory, he performed research in sonar tracking and estimation at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center from 1990 to 1999 and was a member of technical staff at TRW from 1985 to 1990. He has contributed numerous publications to journals and conferences and is a member of the IEEE and Sigma Xi.

Sturim received his BSEE degree in 1985 from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. In 1992, he graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with an MS degree in electrical engineering and received the outstanding student award. He completed his PhD degree in electrical engineering from Brown University in 1999 (under a Navy fellowship).
