Emily D. Kosten

Dr. Emily D. Kosten is an assistant leader in the Advanced Concepts and Technologies Group at MIT Lincoln Laboratory. In this role, Kosten leads systems analysis work to support Navy missions. 

Kosten first joined Lincoln Laboratory in 2008 as an assistant staff member in the Systems Analysis Group before attending graduate school the following year. She returned to the Laboratory in 2014 as a technical staff member in the Advanced Capabilities and Systems Group and then transitioned to the Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) Systems and Architectures Group. Kosten has focused on systems analysis for a variety of mission areas, ranging from automated contact tracing for pandemic response to ISR architectures for the U.S. Air Force. Her interests include systems analysis of new problems for prototype development and connecting analysis with data collections. Kosten holds an AB degree from Princeton University and a PhD degree from California Institute of Technology, both in physics.
