Allan B. Wollaber

Dr. Allan B. Wollaber joined Lincoln Laboratory in summer 2016. He is currently working on projects related to defensive cyber operations, mission assurance, and capability development. His research interests encompass the gamut of computational science, using advanced computing capabilities to understand and solve complex problems.

Before joining MIT Lincoln Laboratory, he was a staff scientist at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) in the Computational Physics and Methods Group, where he developed methods and software to solve high-dimensional systems of nonlinear equations for thermal radiative transfer on supercomputers. From 2008 to 2010, he did similar work for reactor neutronics problems at Argonne National Laboratory as an assistant nuclear engineer.

Dr. Wollaber received two internal awards as a member of the LANL staff and was principal investigator of a laboratory-directed research and development project. He also served on several committees to direct laboratory funding and hire management. While at Argonne, his code team was selected as a finalist for the Gordon Bell Supercomputing Prize. He was recognized nationally as a Computational Science Graduate Fellow and a Tau Beta Pi Fellow as a graduate student. He has mentored 10 students and 3 postdocs, and he has published 15 journal articles and 36 conference papers.

Dr. Wollaber earned a BS degree in nuclear engineering with a mathematics minor in 2002, an MS degree in nuclear engineering from the University of Tennessee in 2003, and a PhD degree in nuclear engineering and scientific computing from the University of Michigan in 2008.
