Jaime D. Peña is an associate technology officer in the MIT Lincoln Laboratory Technology Office, where he helps shape the Laboratory’s technology and artificial intelligence (AI) strategy by guiding internal R&D investments, advancing cross-cutting initiatives, and developing long-range roadmaps aligned with evolving U.S. national security needs.

Peña joined Lincoln Laboratory as an assistant staff member in the Cyber Analytics and Decision Systems Group in 2015, became an associate staff member in the Cyber Operations and Analysis Technology Group in 2018, and moved to the AI Technology and Systems Group as a technical staff member in 2023. In these roles, he has worked across diverse domains, including cybersecurity, autonomous systems, stochastic modeling and simulation, automated decision support systems, AI red-teaming, and human-machine teaming. His work has resulted in numerous publications, including top-tier AI venues, and has contributed to several Lincoln Laboratory–sponsored open-source projects. In addition to his work, he has been an active member of the Laboratory community as a mentor and leads two campus recruiting teams.

Peña holds BS degrees in applied mathematics and computer science from the University of Texas at El Paso and an MS degree in computer science with a focus on AI/machine learning from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
