Chad Council

Chad L. Council is a technical staff member in the Human Resilience Technology Group at MIT Lincoln Laboratory. Council holds a BS degree in computer science from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and an MS degree in emergency management from the Massachusetts Maritime Academy. Prior to joining the Laboratory, Council’s career included 15 years as an industry software developer, and an overlapping 20 years supporting major disasters. Council’s disaster experience includes urban search and rescue deployments, geospatial analysis and coordination, and operational response planning. Throughout his career, Council has held several technical leadership positions and has served on numerous national working groups related to the effective application of emerging technologies to the disaster context, including his current committee membership in the National Search and Rescue Geospatial Coordination Group. Council continues to apply his background in computer science, disaster response, and spatial analysis to develop systems that can turn data into actionable information.
